Volunteer at the upcoming Jr National Swimming Championships...

Carmel Swim Club is pleased to be co hosting the Jr National Championships this
August at the IUPUI Natatorium. To learn more about being a volunteer or
to signup, please click on the link below for our volunteer website.
There are many different volunteer opportunities and most shifts are 4-6 hours
long and you must be 18 years of age. Many opportunities are on the deck
next to these national caliber swimmers.

“MAKE A SPLASH DAY”

CONOCOPHILLIPS
NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS FRIDAY AUGUST 3rd.
Goal:
- Raise awareness
in the Indianapolis community of the Make a Splash Program
Prelim Session:
- Free Admission to
all Indiana Swimming Clubs for the morning session. All those in attendance can
attend a presentation given by Jim Ellis and Rowdy Gaines following the prelim
session.
- Following morning
session lunch will be available in the Aqua Zone while time trials were taking
place. At approximately 2pm a talking clinic and autograph session will be
hosted for everyone in the facility
Finals Session
- Ticket
promotion for all Indiana Swimming clubs.
For every 5 tickets purchased get
2 free
Both Sessions
- A USA Swimming
table will be posted in each concourse where kids can answer questions related
to water safety. All those with the right answers will be put into a drawing
for free “Make A Splash” merchandise.
- Aqua Zone open
for fun and entertainment (athlete autograph session before and after finals)

CSC Swimmers in the National Spotlight

Carmel Swim Club is about to be in the national
swimming spotlight. CSC plays host to the USA Swimming – SPEEDO Junior National
Championships August 6th-10th at the IU Natatorium in
downtown Indianapolis. Come support CSC athletes as they compete against some
of the best young swimmers in the country.

Annual Meeting July 17, 7:00pm
Posted July 7, 2007
Carmel Swim Club will hold its annual membership meeting in conjunction with
the state party on Tuesday, July 17, 2007 at 7:00pm in the Community Room at
Carmel High School. All current members are encouraged to attend to elect
four new Board members. Any member interested in serving on the Board
should contact Board President
Paul
Stauder or Vice-President
Bob
Flaherty as soon as possible to be placed on the BOD ballot. The four
newly-elected Board members would serve three years from 2007 to 2010.
This week, the Board
passed the 2007-2008 budget, which will be presented to the membership at the
annual meeting by Treasurer Paul Partridge. Club Secretary Jay Wagner will
run the Board election at the annual meeting. Members are encouraged to
bring their swim accounts current in time to vote at the annual
meeting.
As Junior National
signups continue, members of the CSC organizing committee will be on hand to
provide guidance and answer any questions about work shifts and duties.
The
state party is scheduled to begin at 6:00pm in the Main Cafeteria at Carmel High
School. All swimmers and their families are encouraged to attend.

Carmel Swim Club Upcoming Events...

End of School Picnic Friday June, 1:
What: The Club is hosting an end of the school year picnic! Let's
celebrate the end of the school year together!
Time: 4:00 - 7:00 pm
Location: Lawrence Inlow Park, 6310 E. 131st Street (northeast of 131st
and Hazel Dell Parkway)
The Club will provide hamburgers & hot dogs, condiments and paper products.
Families with the last names beginning with:
A-E should bring two, 2 liter bottles of soda or a case of water to drink
F-L should bring 2 finger food desserts (cookies, brownies, bar cookies)
M-S should bring 1 salad (green, potato, and/or pasta)
T-Z should bring 2 snack foods and/or munchies
Every swimmer 14 and under needs to have adult supervision at this picnic. The
Carmel Swim Club and the coaches will not be responsible for any of the swimmers
at the event. This is a water park so swimmers should bring your water
guns!
We need parents to help with the following at the picnic: setup, grilling,
organize games/races, and help with cleanup. To volunteer, please call the
office at 575.8244 and ask for Lisa.
Parent Information Meeting Saturday, June 2:
The club will be hosting a Parent Information Meeting this Saturday, June 2 from
10:00-11:00am upstairs in the concession stand lobby at the Aquatics Center.
The main topic covered will be Junior National Meet information, opportunities,
and volunteering; long course meets; CSC Summer Classic meet volunteering,
etc.

Swim Parent Seminar Monday, June 4:
The club will be hosting a Swim Parent seminar on Monday, June 4 from
6:30-8:00pm in the Freshman Center Cafeteria. Tony Young from Indiana
Swimming will be the presenter. Tony is the Sport Development Director for
Indiana Swimming, Inc., as well as a former CSC/CHS head swim coach.
Topics that will be covered include:
* PARENT SUPPORT AND THE COACHES ROLE: Coaches coach & parents parent.

COMMUNICATION: Parent/Athlete, Parent/Coach, Athlete/Coach

ATHLETE PARTICIPATION: Practice & meet participation

Splash Flash Dash Triathlon Volunteers Needed...

The Splash, Flash & Dash
triathlon is just around the corner. Volunteers are needed for both Saturday,
April 21st and for race day on Sunday the 22nd. To sign up, please go to the
CSC website and ????? This exciting event is our chance to host a multisport
event which showcases our pool and swim club to the community.

Triathlon Swim Meet Session
Credit:
Each family will receive 1
session credit for working a minimum of 4 hours for either 1 shift or a
combination of shifts for the Splash, Flash & Dash Triathlon. You must be
signed up online for your shift in the available slots, arrive on time in your
designated area and stay to the end of the shift / race. Your area coordinator
will determine if you have met your volunteer commitment during the triathlon.
The credit may only be used at the club hosted June meet.

the morning with warm-ups at 7:30 am, meet starting at 8:30.

We are still in need of volunteers!!!

CSC Holiday Service Project

service project is looking for swimmers who want to help make the holiday
special for needy families! It's an opportunity to shop with your friends and
deliver gifts, groceries, and cheer to those in need.
Fliers were distributed to mailboxes in the pool lobby last week. Additional
fliers and sign up forms are available on the bulletin board in the pool lobby.

CSC 13-14 Girls are Top Relay in the Nation!

USA Swimming has released
its final Top 16 rankings for the 2005-2006 swim year and Carmel Swim Club's
13-14 200-yard girls medley relay team finished with the No. 1 ranking in
the country. The Carmel girls relay team of Jessie Hammes
(backstroke), Lauren Stauder (breaststroke), Devon Mason (butterfly) and
Trish Regan (freestyle) swam the nation's best time of 1:48.28 at the IUPUI
Natatorium during the Indiana Swimming State Age Group Championship Meet on
March 18.
Carmel's 13-14 girls 400
yard medley relay also ranked sixth in the country. In all, nine
Carmel relays ranked among the nation's Top 16 in USA Swimming's final
posting.
Congratulations to all!

IU/CSC Swim Clinic - Friday, October 6th

The Carmel Swim Club is proud to
welcome IU Head Swim Coach Ray Looze and Assistant Swim Coach Mike Westphal to
the Carmel High School Pool on Friday, October 6 from 5:30-6:30pm. The swim
clinic will be interactive, so swimmers will need to wear their suits as they
will be in the water. Pizza will be served after the clinic to all CSC
swimmers. The clinic is open to the public. Due to the clinic, all
CSC swim practices are canceled for the evening.

All parents and swimmers are invited to the annual
CSC Hayride and Cookout from 4pm to 7pm on Sunday, October 8 at the Koss
family's Eagle Forge Farm in Westfield. The club will provide hamburgers,
hot dogs, buns, condiments, plates, drinks and dessert. Families should
bring a side dish to share. Last names beginning with A-through-P bring a
hot vegetable or potato dish, and Q-through-Z should bring cold salad or
fruit. RSVP to the club office
by October 4 please.

Carmel Swim Club to Co-host Speedo Junior National Championships at IUPUI in
August, 2007

Carmel Swim Club is partnering with Indiana Swimming and the IUPUI Natatorium to
co-host the 2007 Speedo Junior National Championships next August. We are
proud to be selected by our local swim committee, Indiana Swimming, and our
national governing body, USA Swimming, for this wonderful opportunity to
showcase our club to rest of the nation.
Barb
Marshall and Amy Partridge will serve as co-meet directors. Volunteer

Carmel Swim Club is holding its pre-season swimming evaluations for those
interested in joining the Club. Sessions will be held at the
Carmel High School pool (click
for directions) on the evenings of August 29, 30, and 31 from 6:00 -
7:30.
This is NOT a tryout, rather, an evaluation by the coaches to place
new swimmers in the appropriate practice group and an opportunity for
prospective swimmers to learn more about the Carmel Swim Club.
All you need to be able to do is swim 25 yards of freestyle and backstroke
(this is the length of most pools) and there is a group just
right for you!

Carmel Swim Club Hires Ian Murray as Head Age Group Coach

Carmel
Swim Club is pleased to announce the addition of Ian Murray as Head Age Group
coach for the 2006-2007 swimming season. Murray comes to Carmel after six years
on the staff of the Lake Erie Silver Dolphins in suburban Cleveland, Ohio, where
he coached the 11-14 age group with the title Elite Age Group and Senior Coach.

Carmel Swim Club Championship Results

Congratulations to
everyone on a great Championship Season!! Carmel Swim Club took 4th at
Senior State and scored the most 18 & under points of any team, won Age Group
State by over 1000 points, sent 11 swimmers to Junior Nationals, 15 to the
Central Zone Championships, broke 5 Carmel Swim Club Relay Records, 2 Indiana
Swimming Association Relay Records, and earned 1 Senior National time!

CSC Long Course State Party & Annual Meeting July 18th...
Posted June 30, 2006
The annual meeting will be held on Tuesday July 18th,
2006 in the Greyhound Station next to the Carmel High School Freshman Center
cafeteria, 520 E. Main Street, Carmel, Indiana. The meeting will be held in
conjunction with the Club’s Long Course State Party. The meeting will begin
at 7:30pm, and should last approximately 1 hour.
During this meeting we will be electing new directors to
the board and handle any other business that may come before the club. We
hope all members make an effort to attend this meeting and participate in
this important club function.
Anyone interested in running for a board position should
contact Paul
Stauder (click his name to email) and to be placed on the ballot.
As mentioned above The Carmel Swim Club State party will
be held during this time and will begin at 6:00 pm in the Freshman Center
cafeteria. This party is for ALL swimmers, not just those with state
cuts. Pizza, drinks and cake will be served along with entertainment to
follow.

CSC accepts Coach Tom Burchill's resignation

The
Board of Directors of Carmel Swim Club has accepted the resignation of Tom
Burchill as Head Coach and Senior Group Coach of Carmel Swim Club, effective
Thursday June 22. The Club wishes Tom the very best as he continues to
pursue his goals.
Effective with Tom's resignation, the Board appointed Chris Plumb Interim Head
Coach. Chris will continue his duties as Stingray Coach and take over
coaching the Senior Age Group Program. As Interim Head Coach, Chris will
oversee all Club operations.
A joint search committee is being formed with members from Carmel Swim Club and
Carmel High School. The search committee will recommend the candidate to
fill both the positions of Head Coach of Carmel High School and Carmel Swim
Club.
Again, we all wish Tom, Bethany, Veronica, Sammie and Tanner the very best.

CSC Announces New Aquatics Directors

Carmel
Swim Club is proud to announce that Nancy Hutter and Julie Cardona will assume
the role of Aquatics Director at the Carmel Aquatics Center. Nancy and
Julie have both served in the role of Assistant Aquatics Director at some point
since the pool opened, and they will now job share the role of Aquatics Director
effective June 1.
If
you see them in the pool office or on deck, take a moment to congratulate Nancy
and Julie on their new position. Look on the Aquatics
Center page for more information on programming for the summer.

Robertson Excellence in Coaching Award that will be housed in the
International Swimming Hall of Fame in Ft. Lauderdale, Fl. The four

Robertson Excellence in Coaching Award recognizes the organizational and
leadership skills needed to train high school athletes to compete successfully
