HOST:
Carmel Swim Club, 300 E. Main, Suite E, Carmel,

POOL:
I.U.P.U.I. Natatorium, 901 W. New York
Street, Indianapolis, IN.
FACILITY:
Competition Pools: two 25 yard pools, 8 lanes
each with Competitor non-turbulent lane markers;
Daktronics electronic timing equipment; custom
designed starting blocks; continuous warm-up
available in the diving well. Spectator seating
on the west side only.
PARKING:
Paid Parking will be available in the parking
garage next to the Natatorium. Parking fees are
set by the University, not the Carmel Swim Club
or the Natatorium.
RULES:
Current USA Swimming and Indiana Swimming rules
will govern this meet USA Swimming Rules 202.3.2
– At a sanctioned competitive event, USA
Swimming athlete members must be under the
supervision of a USA Swimming member coach
during warm-up, competition, and warm-down. The
Meet Director or Meet Referee shall assist the
athlete in making arrangements for such
supervision. The 2004 USA Swimming Rules and
Regulations will be the primary source.
ELIGIBILITY:
Age as of January 14, 2005 will determine age
for the meet. All swimmers must be currently
registered with USA Swimming. These
registration numbers must accompany entry.
There will not be any USA Swimming registration
at the meet. Coaches MUST constantly display
their USA Swimming coach credential to gain deck
access. The meet referee reserves the right to
ask for coach credential display and/or deny
access if coach does not comply.
QUALIFYING TIME
2005-2008 National Motivational “A” Time
Standards will be used for swimmers 13 and
older.
2005-2008 National Motivational “BB” Time
Standards will be used for swimmers 11 & 12.
STANDARDS
2005-2008 National Motivational “B” Time
Standards will be used for swimmers 10 and
younger, except that 2005-2008 National
Motivational “BB” Time Standards will be used
for 10 and younger, for events 39 & 40 (200
Free) and events 87 and 88 (200 IM). (Refer to
page 5 for specific standards for each event.)
Carmel Swim Club reserves the right to swim any
of its own club members who have not achieved
the minimum time standards. Swimmers of any age
may compete in Open events if they have achieved
the time standards. Please note that 13-14
events and Open events may be swum in separate
pools. We will not delay the meet for
any swimmers entered in Age Group and Open
events. A swimmer may not compete in the
same event, timed final, or preliminary, more
than one time during this meet.
ENTRIES:
Enter each swimmer with their full first name,
last name, age and USA Swimming # on the entry.
All times must be completed to the hundredth of
a second and submitted in yard times. If
a swimmer has not achieved the short course
yards time standard for a timed final event,
non-conforming times will be accepted; however,
they will be seeded first followed by conforming
times.
Each
swimmer will be limited to 3 individual events
and 1 relay per day (a swimmer may not swim in
both a 13-14 and Open relay on the same day).
If an individual is entered in more than 3
events/1 relay per day and does not scratch back
to 3 events by the scratch deadline, the entry
will be made by order of events, starting with
Event #1 until the limit is satisfied. There
will be no refunds. All entries of more
than 10 swimmers NOT submitted via E-mail or on
disk will be subject to a $25.00 data processing
fee. Carmel swim Club has the sole
discretion to determine which entries to
except. In exercising this discretion, Carmel
Swim Club will consider; number of officials
provided by team, balance of age groups and
gender in entries, level of competition and
geographic location. NOTE: Indiana
Boys and Girls High School Swimmers will require
a waiver from the IHSAA.
DEADLINE:
Our past experience is that this meet fills very
quickly! We highly recommend using email or
some form of express mail to deliver your entry,
i.e., Federal Express, Overnight Mail, etc...If
you want confirmation of acceptance, please
include a stamped, self-addressed post card.
Entries will not be accepted before 8 AM,
December 8, 2004. Entries must be
delivered by the US Postal service, Nationally
recognized courier service or via E-mail. NO
HAND DELIVERIES, NO TELEPHONE ENTRIES AND
NO FAX ENTRIES! The final entry date
for entries to be received is by 6:00 pm,
December 29, 2004.
Teams not
accepted will have their entries returned as
soon as possible, but no later than December 30,
2004 via E-mail or US postal depending on form
of entry. No team entry will be broken.
This meet will be run with the Hytek Meet
Manager program. Diskette entries will be
accepted using the Hytek COMMLINK program (do
not forget to “age up” swimmers). A printed
copy must accompany the diskette. The
printed copy is the final word in any disputes
involving entries.

FORMAT:
All Friday events, events 39, 40, 87, and 88,
as well as all relays are timed finals. The
1650 Free will be swum fastest to slowest
seeded heats
and may alternate women and men depending on
number of heats of each. The Carmel Swim
Club reserves the right to limit the
number of heats in all individual timed final
events. A psyche sheet for Friday night’s
events will be posted at www.carmelswimclub.org
on Monday January 10, 2005. Please check there
for any limits to the number of Friday heats.
All
1650 swimmers are required to provide one timer
and one lap counter.
Preliminaries will be conducted Saturday and
Sunday mornings for 13-14 and Open events, and
Saturday and Sunday afternoons for 10 & Under
and 11-12 events.
There will be consolation and
championship finals for 10 & Under, 11-12, 13-14
and Open Age Groups. All relays except
for the 8 fastest seeded teams in each event
will be swum in the preliminary session. The 8
fastest seeded teams will swim in finals. There
will be no time trials. Carmel Swim Club
reserves the right to use fly-over starts for
all events except Finals on Saturday and
Sunday. There will be refunds for any
limited event.
POSITIVE CHECK-IN:
Positive Check-in means “I am here and I intend
to swim this event”. All Friday events
require positive check-in. Check-in sheets will
be located at the security desk on the deck
level. All swimmers not declaring intent to
swim via check-in will be scratched.

Failure to check-in will jeopardize your
opportunity to swim those events.
SCRATCHES:
In all individual events on Saturday & Sunday,
the swimmer is assumed to be swimming unless
he/she has been scratched from the event. A
missed heat or late arrival will deprive the
swimmer of their opportunity to swim that event,
as well as the next individual prelim event the
swimmer is scheduled to swim. Scratch forms
will be available at the Clerk of Course Scratch
Table.

If you will not be at the competition facility
on Friday evening, we will accept scratches from
Saturday Morning session events by phone up to
6:00 PM on Thursday, January 13, 2005. Please
contact the Entry Chair to make these scratches.
SEEDING EVENTS:
Seeding of Friday events will be made at the
close of the positive check-in period on
Friday. Please check the psyche sheet (posted
on
www.carmelswimclub.org on Monday January 10)
for the limit to the number of heats for each
event. Seeding of Saturday and Sunday AM prelim
sessions will be done on Friday and Saturday
night respectively. Seeding of Saturday and
Sunday PM prelim sessions will be done no later
than 11:00 AM on each day.
SCRATCHES FROM FINALS:
USA Swimming Championship rules shall apply
(ref. Article 207.9 D & E of 2004 USA Swimming
Rules and Regulations). A swimmer
qualifying for a consolation final or final
based on the results of the preliminaries must
notify the referee or designee within 30 minutes
after the announcement of the qualifiers for
that race that they do not intend to compete.
Any swimmer qualifying for the consolation final
or final race in an individual event who fails
to declare and fails to compete in said
consolation final or final race shall be barred
from further competition for the remainder of
the meet. Failure to declare and swim in a
Sunday consolation finals or finals event shall
result in a $25 fine.
RELAYS:
Relay reports must list
the full name of
swimmers competing on the relay (improperly
filled out relay reports may result in the relay
failing to swim). Include alternates if
appropriate. Relay reports shall be returned to
the Clerk of Course two hours after the start
of the session. Relays are assumed to be
swimming unless a coach marks SCRATCH on the
relay report and turns it in to the Clerk of
Course.

club with five or more swimmers. Extra copies
may be ordered at the meet for $8.00. Final
results will also be posted at the CSC web-site

SCORING:
10-Under, 11-12, 13-14 & Open individual events
score Top 16 from finals. The 1650 Free will be
scored within the swimmers representative age
group even though the event is listed as open.
The 1650 Free is the only Open event where
points will be added to age group point totals.
All Age Groups score Top 8 for relays
AWARDS:
Medals will be awarded for places 1 – 8 Ribbons
for places 9 - 16
Medals will be awarded for Relay places 1 – 3
Ribbons for Relay places 4 - 8
Team awards will be presented for 1st,
2nd, and 3rd.

FACILITY NOTE:
The IUPUI Natatorium is one of th finest
swimming facilities in the world. It is
important that all people attending this meet,
whether it be swimmers, coaches, or spectators,
treat this facility with utmost care. The
following rules will be strictly enforced:
1) Keep all trash picked up
2) Do not go or let children go, in any
unauthorized areas. This means any place other
than the lobby, seating areas, steps to the
deck. Elevators and steps going upstairs are
off limits. Due to USA Swimming insurance
requirements only swimmers, coaches,
officials and volunteers are allowed on deck.
There can be no exceptions!
The Carmel Swim Club will have security people
roaming the deck and locker room areas. If any
swimmer is caught abusing the building or
facility, they will immediately be asked to
leave the meet and will be barred from further
competition.
