
Chris Plumb
Head Coach

Chris was named
Head Coach of Carmel Swim Club in July of 2006. As head
coach, Chris oversees all aspects of the swim club, as well as
coaches the Senior Group. He is also Head Coach at Carmel
High School.
Chris
originally joined CSC in September, 2003 as the Tiger Shark group
coach. In January 2004, he became the Head Age Group Coach
and assumed the duties of Stingray group coach. His peers
voted Chris Indiana Age Group Coach of the Year at the 2005 Long
Course State meet. He has also served as an assistant coach
for the Indiana Central Zone team in 2005 and coached at the USA
Swimming Zone Select Camp in 2006. Recently, Coach Plumb was
voted by his peers as the 2008 IHSAA Girls High School Coach of the
Year and the 2008 Indiana Swimming Senior Coach of the
Year.
Chris brings a
wealth of swimming experience to CSC. He’s currently
certified by the American Swim Coaches Association at Level 4
(of 5). The Indiana University graduate led the Cane
Aquatics Club in Coral Gables, Florida before joining the Carmel
staff. As Head Senior Coach and Age Group Coach for the Miami
club, Chris developed a number of Division I collegiate swimmers
and coached the Virgin Islands national record holder in the 100
meter breaststroke.
Chris also
served as Assistant Coach at the University of Miami for four
years, where he was involved in all aspects of a program that
ranked among the nation’s top twenty every year. Chris
coached 12 NCAA All Americans at Miami, as well as an Olympic
silver medalist from the Netherlands, and a Canadian national
champion and Olympian. He also coached 12 Big East Conference
champions, four of whom set league records. Miami’s
women broke nine school records under Chris, and established a
school standard for the highest team grade point average in any
sport. Chris pursued a Masters in Sports Administration at
the same time he coached the Hurricanes.
Chris cut his
coaching teeth in Indiana, as head coach of the Bloomington South
High School boy’s team. In his only year at the helm,
Bloomington’s swimmers all achieved best
times.
At IU, Chris
majored in Biology while he swam for the Hoosiers. He was a
six-time NCAA All American, an Academic All Big Ten selection each
year from 1993-1997, team MVP in 1996, and captained the team as a
senior. He has shown that he has not lost much speed since
his college days, swimming the second-fastest leg of Carmel’s
4X100 relay at the 2005 Indiana Long Course Senior State
Championships.
Chris lives in
Carmel with his wife, Emily and sons William and
Nicholas.

Ian Murray
Head Age Group Coach
Email
Ian was named the Head Age Group Coach of
Carmel Swim Club in August of 2006. As head age group coach,
Ian oversees the administration of the CSC Age Group Program and
supervises the CSC Coaching Staff. He also serves as the Stingray group coach, essentially
preparing middle school athletes for their transition to high
school and senior level swimming.
Since joining Carmel, Ian has directed CSC to the past six Indiana Swimming
Age Group State Championships. He has had over 40 swimmers qualify
for the Central Zone Championships, many of whom also qualified for
the Speedo Champions Series. His athletes have consistently
been ranked nationally and have broken 16 Club and 4 Indiana
Swimming Records. In addition, 7 of his swimmers have
qualified for the USA Swimming Central Zone Select Camp, with one
progressing to the USA Swimming National Select Camp. Ian has
also served as the Head Coach for the Indiana Swimming Age Group
Elite Camp.
Ian came to
Carmel after six years on the staff of the Lake Erie Silver
Dolphins in suburban Cleveland, Ohio, where he was an Elite Age
Group and Senior Coach. While at Lake Erie, he helped coach
numerous members of the USA Swimming National Team, including an
Olympic Gold Medalist. His age group swimmers achieved many
National Top 16 rankings, as well as had success at the Zone &
Sectional Championships. He was the 2006 Lake Erie Swimming
Age Group Coach of the Year and served on the staff for the 2006
USA Swimming Zone Select Camp.
Also at LESD,
he led the team at the 2001 USA Swimming Summer Nationals and
helped guide the Silver Dolphins to the 2001 Open Water National
Team Title and also directed the team at the 2005 & 2006 Junior
National Championships in Irvine, California. Ian has
served on the staff of the Richard Quick/Stanford National Swim
Camp, and was Head Coach of both the 2003 Ohio Mid-States QUAD Team
and the 2004 Lake Erie Zone Team.
Ian previously
served as volunteer assistant coach at his alma mater, Cleveland
State University from 2000-2002. He was also a standout
swimmer for CSU from 1996-2000. During that period he was a
conference champion, school and conference record holder, and team
captain his senior year.
Ian currently
lives in Carmel with his wife Jennifer.

Roch Adams King
Full-Time Assistant Coach
Email
Dr. Roch King serves as the Lead Coach of the Senior White group
and an Assistant Coach with the Carmel High School
Greyhounds. In addition, Roch works with the age group
program as an Assistant Hammerhead coach. With over thirty
years of coaching experience, a wealth of knowledge on swimming and
the psychology of sport, and his great ability to motivate and
inspire athletes, Roch is a fantastic asset to the Carmel Swim
Club.
Most recently, Roch served as the Chair of Sports Coaching at
the United States Sports Academy in Alabama. Roch also works as a
Senior Trainer for the Positive Coaching Alliance. Over the past
seven years, he has presented over 115 workshops addressing
coaches, parents, and athletes in 25 states on their behalf. Since
earning his doctorate in Sports Psychology from Temple University,
Roch has held Assistant Professorships in Kinesiology, Physical
Education, Sport, and Exercise Science at the University of
Indianapolis, Ball State University, and Bloomsburg University.
Roch first worked with the Carmel Swim Club as an assistant with
the Dolphin Group during the summer of 2008. He also served as the
Guerin Catholic High School Boys Swimming Coach from 2007-2009.
Roch has coached swimming and water polo at the high school and
collegiate level and worked as an Assistant Coach for Clovis Swim
Club prior to his graduate studies. He has maintained his own
competitive involvement in swimming, and boasts several US Masters
Swimming Top Ten Times. Roch’s extensive scholarship and
practical experience will benefit Carmel Swim Club
tremendously.

Maggie Moss
Full-Time Assistant Coach

Maggie Moss joined the full-time staff of
Carmel Swim Club in August 2009. She will serve as an
Assistant Coach in both the Senior and Age Group programs.
Coach Moss will be primarily working with the Senior Red Group, as
well as serving as the Lead Barracuda Coach.
Prior to accepting the
position at CSC, Maggie served as the Head Age Group Coach of the
Fishers Area Swimming Tigers. During her time at FAST, the
club dramatically improved its standing in the state of
Indiana. At the two 2009 Indiana Age Group State
Championships, she coached three individual event champions and one
athlete to the 2009 Short Course Junior National Championships.
Previously, Maggie served as a
Volunteer Assistant Coach with the Indiana University swim
teams. During her tenure, the men and women finished tenth at
their respective NCAA Championships. In addition, she
personally coached one athlete to qualify for the 2008 U.S. Olympic
Team Trials.
Maggie received a
bachelor’s degree in English from George Washington
University in 2006 and is a masters degree candidate in English at
IU. She swam for George Washington and was the
2004 and 2006 Atlantic 10 champion in the 100 backstroke.
In 2006, Maggie was named the George Washington University
"Athlete of the Year". Maggie graduated from North Central
High School in Indianapolis in 2002.

Cindie Dean
Assistant Senior Coach

Cindie is
in her second tour of duty with the Carmel staff. She assists
Chris Plumb with the Senior Group, as well as serves as an
assistant coach for the Carmel High School Greyhounds.
Previously, Cindie coached the CSC Tiger Shark group and helped
develop some of the outstanding age group swimmers currently
involved with the program.
She was a
swimmer herself and grew up swimming for the Michiana Marlins in
South Bend, Indiana. Cindie competed in U.S. Olympic Team
Trials in 1976. She also set school records for Penn
High School in the 100 yard freestyle, 200 yard freestyle, and the
200 Medley Relay.
She has
also been coaching the Springmill Crossing Summer League team since
1993. Cindie and her husband Ken currently live in
Carmel. Their two sons Scott and Brian are currently
attending Purdue University and were both stand out swimmers for
the Greyhounds.

Tamara Brown
Piranha Coach

Swimming
for Carmel Swim Club for 11 years makes Tamara very familiar with
the traditions and accomplishments of CSC. She’s now in
her sixth year teaching those traditions to the Piranha Group after
graduating from IUPUI in May of 2003. As Piranha coach,
Tamara does a great job preparing middle school swimmers for the
transition into senior swimming.
At Carmel
High School, Tamara swam under Tony Young. She lettered on
four IHSAA Girls State Swim Champions, and was a member of the 1994
team that ranked first nationally. Swimming for the Carmel
Swim Club, Tamara was a State Finalist and Zone Finalist. Her
best events were the 200 IM, 400 IM, 200 Fly, and 200
Breast.
The
Carmel High School alum holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Fitness
and Sport Studies. Tamara currently works for The Care Group
and performs cardiac stress tests for her full-time job. She
works with heart patients as well as the Indianapolis Colts and the
Indianapolis Pacers.

Chris Chin
Dolphin Coach

Chris
Chin has been with Carmel Swim Club since August of 2004. He
has been Head Coach of the Dolphin group since its inception in
2004. His primary role will be to educate Dolphin swimmers on
the importance of technique and prepare them for future success in
the CSC program.
Prior to
joining the Carmel Team, Chris coached with the Indy Dolphins from
2001-2004. He has also served on the staff of the Indiana
Zone Team in 2004. Chris brings a wealth of Indiana Swimming
and coaching experience Carmel, including stints as the Head Age
Group Coach of the Donner Swim Club in Columbus, Indiana, and
Brebeuf High School, where he served as an assistant
coach.
When he
is not coaching, Chris is an Applications Engineer for Parker
Hannifin Corporation. He currently resides in
Indianapolis.

Elizabeth Shafer
Assistant Dolphin Coach

Elizabeth
is entering her second year with the Carmel Swim Club and will
serve as the Assistant Coach with the Dolphin program. She
has excellent experience working with 10 & under
athletes. In addition to her duties with the CSC age group
program, Elizabeth also serves an an Assistant Coach with the
Carmel High School Greyhounds.
Elizabeth
comes to Carmel from Franklin, Indiana where she had been an
Assistant Age Group Coach for the Franklin Regional Swim Team for
the past year. She also has significant experience as a swim
lesson instructor and supervisor with the Franklin Parks and
Recreation.
Elizabeth
is a graduate of Butler University, where she swam for the Bulldogs
from 2004-2008. She was a team captain her senior year.
Her efforts in and out of the pool were recognized at Butler as she
was the recipient of the Coach’s Award in 2007 and the Mental
Attitude Award in 2005.
Coach
Shafer is also involved with the Indianapolis Tennis Championship
where she is the Chairman of the Ballkids committee. She
currently teaches Chemistry at Carmel High school and serves as an
Assistant Swimming Coach for the Carmel High School
Greyhounds.

Jennifer Murray
Tiger Shark Coach

Jen
Murray is entering her third year with Carmel and will be serving
as the Head Coach of the Tiger Shark program. Coach Murray
previously worked as an assistant coach with the CSC Hammerhead
group. She was an accomplished swimmer and has an extensive
background in aquatics instruction.
Prior to
joining the staff at Carmel, Jen was an assistant coach for the
Lake Erie Silver Dolphins in Cleveland, Ohio. There she
worked with the clubs developmental 10 & under swimmers.
Before her time with the Silver Dolphins, Jen ran the Cleveland
State University Children’s Learn to Swim Program for 3
years. At Cleveland State, she also taught Beginner and
Intermediate (Adult) swimming classes.
Jen is
originally from Windsor, Ontario. Representing the Windsor
Aquatic Club, Jen was a top age group swimmer qualifying for both
Age Group and Junior National Championships numerous times and she
was nominated to represent her province in the Canada
Games.
Jen is a
graduate of Cleveland State University where she was named team
“Newcomer of the Year,” in 2000 and was a standout
distance swimmer from 2000-2004. She is married to Head Age
Group Coach Ian Murray.

Paul O'Connor
Assistant Tiger Shark Coach

Paul is
beginning his second season with the Carmel Swim Club. He has
also served as a volunteer coach with the Carmel High School swim
team. He is a Carmel High School graduate and swam on 3 IHSAA
State Championship teams from 1991-1993 under Hall of Fame Coach
Ray Lawrence.
Paul has
recently moved back to Indiana from Fort Collins, Colorado where he
had been coaching high school swimming for Fort Collins High
School. He is a graduate of Indiana University and Colorado
State. He currently teaches English at Kokomo High
School.

Julie Cardona
Hammerhead Coach

Julie is
the club’s Director of 10 & Under Development and she has
been with the club longer than any other staff member. Her
primary role will be implementing a program in cooperation with the
Head Age Group Coach that prepares each athlete to meet their long
term potential within the Carmel Swim Club. Julie will also
have on deck duties coaching the Hammerhead Group and serves as the
Assistant Aquatics Director.
Julie can
boast nine years with the Carmel, beginning with the program in
1997. She has had great success as the Head Hammerhead Coach,
producing many swimmers that have gone on to achieve great success
in the older age groups.
She began
her coaching career at the Sugar Creek Swim Club in Crawfordsville,
Indiana. Most recently she served as an age group coach for
Center Grove Aquatic Club and was an intern with Indiana Swimming
promoting Operation Water Safety through local swim
clubs.
She is a
great stroke technician and her former swimmers and parents can
certainly attest to the knowledge, enthusiasm, and excitement she
brings to the pool every day. Julie is a graduate of IUPUI
with a degree in physical education. Julie and her husband,
Chris, are the proud new parents of their daughter Emerson.
They currently live in Carmel.

Megan Hauser
Assistant Hammerhead Coach

Megan is
entering her third year with the Carmel Swim Club and will continue
assisting with the Hammer Head program. She has excellent
experience working with age groups swimmers from ages
5-14.
Megan
comes to Carmel from Greenwood, Indiana where she had been an
Assistant Age Group Coach for the Greenwood Aquatic Team for the
past 7 years. She also served as the Head Coach for the
Greenwood Middle School swim team from
2004-2007.
She is a
2006 graduate of the University of Indianapolis with a BS in
Secondary Education. Megan currently teaches mathematics at
Creekside Middle School in Carmel.

DesNeiges Buchanna
Assistant Hammerhead Coach

DesNeiges
is back for another season with the Hammerhead group. She has
over 8 years of experience in the Carmel program. DesNeiges
has also been an assistant coach for Center Grove Aquatic
Club. She has been around competitive swimming nearly all her
life. Her role will be to assist Head Hammerhead Coach, Julie
Cardona, in teaching our youngest athletes the proper fundamentals
for future success in the CSC program.
DesNeiges
has been teaching kindergarten in the Indianapolis Public School
System for 12 years. She currently lives in Carmel with her
husband Brad and their 2 year old son Parker.

Caitlin Davis
Assistant Hammerhead Coach

Caitlin
is entering her second year on the Carmel staff. She grew up
around the pool swimming for the Woodgate Swim Team here in Carmel
from 1993-2000. Caitlin stuck to her roots and served as a
coach for Woodgate that past 6 years. The past four seasons
she has served as the team’s Head Coach. She is a
recent graduate of Purdue University and is currently teaching in
the Carmel Clay School District.
