Spring Fling Meet Volunteer Signup Now Closed...

On-line volunteer sign-ups for the CSC Spring Fling (May 9-11th) will begin on Monday, April 21st

 starting at noon through May 2nd at noonAll families are required to work TWO shifts.  This is a required volunteer commitment that is part of your signed agreement when you joined the club.  Please signup using the CSC Intranet and instructions in the Weekly Update.

2008 SPEEDO CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES

CENTRAL ZONE SECTION 3 TEAM RUNNER-UP

WOMEN TEAM CHAMPIONS

 

Carmel Swim Club came in 2nd place behind Oakland Live Y’ers and bettering the Cincinnati Marlins by 30.5 points, while the girls won the team championship and the boys came in 4th place.  Of the 28 athletes that swam in the meet, 26 of them had at least one best time and overall we had 127 swims that were faster than pervious lifetime best times!  This is a tremendous accomplishment!!!

 

Individually, Jessie Hammes led the way be earning an Olympic Trial Cut in the 100 meter backstroke with a prelims time of 1:04.23 and was able to do it again in the finals.  The Carmel Swim Club also earned 8 New Junior National Long Course Standard Times and those athletes were; Megan Detro (100 freestyle), Josh Jordan (100 backstroke), Lauren Jordan (100 backstroke, 200 backstroke), Brendan Joyce (100 butterfly), Lauren Stauder (100 breastroke, 200 breastroke), and Mike Vinyard (400 IM).  We also had several athletes coming close to their first Junior National cut.  In addition to the names above, here are the athletes that went best times this past weekend; Nik Astashinksy, Kaylee Burget, Matt Gerth, Michael Greenberg, Daniel Hasler, Megan Jex, Sarah Koss, Lucy Kramer, Lacey Locke, Carly Marshall, Devon Mason, Sam Partridge, Trish Regan, Stevie Scheller, Sam Shaheen, Rhi Sheets, John Stuy, Adam Twer, and Charles Williams.

 

Operation Water Safety...

Operation Water Safety is a FREE one day land and water program designed for children ages 6-12 years old by the Greater Indianapolis Aquatic Alliance to help children and their families learn basic swimming skills and water safety practices - just in time for summer!  Come join us Saturday April 26th.

2008 INDIANA SWIMMING AGE GROUP STATE CHAMPIONS

 

Carmel Swim Club captured its 13th consecutive Age Group State Championship at the IU Natatorium this past weekend (March 14-16).  It was a complete team effort with the boys scoring 580.5 points and the girls scoring 588 points.  Congratulations swimmers on a job well done!

Carmel Swim Club Achieves Silver Medal Status for 2008...

The Carmel Swim Club has achieved Silver Medal status in the USA Swimming Club Excellence Program.  The focus of this voluntary program is to identify and reward up to 200 USA Swimming clubs that have attained a high level of athlete performance as well as organizational success.  CSC is the only club in Indiana to achieve the Silver Medal level this year!

Carmel Aquatics Center Triathlon Swim Clinic Update

The Carmel Aquatics Center has announced two Triathlon Swim Clinic Sessions.  The sessions will be held as follows:

    Session 1: Sunday, Feb 17th, 24th, and Mar 2nd

    Session 2: Sunday Mar 16th, Saturday Mar 22nd, Sunday Mar 30th

        Note that the session originally scheduled for Easter Sunday, March 23rd will now be held at the same times on Saturday the 22nd.

 

Two areas of focus are being offered during these sessions:

    Basic Stroke Instruction for Triathletes (beginner to moderate): 9:00am - 10:00am

    Stroke Improvement for Triathletes (more advanced):  10:00am - 11:00am

Each year is new for the Carmel girls high school swimming and diving team, but the tradition each team continues is like none other in the nation.  The Greyhounds won their 22nd straight state championship (tying a national record) with another dominating performance at the IHSAA State Finals.  Sophomore Trish Regan captured the first of three individual or relay state championships for the Hounds.  Regan finished first in the 200 Freestyle in a school record time of 1:49.78.  Senior Samantha Partridge won the 500 Freestyle with a time of 5:01.45.  Then the 200 Freestyle Relay team of Megan Detro, Devon Mason, Regan, and Emy DeBenigno placed first in a time of 1:35.28.  The 200 Medley Relay Team of Hammes, Stauder, Mason, and Jex broke a school record in the 200 Medley Relay with a time of 1:44.94.  Head Coach Chris Plumb, who was voted Coach of the Year, added his second title in as many years as the coach of the program.  Final results for the state finals can be viewed by clicking here

CSC Swimmers Selected for the 2008 USA Swimming Zone Select Camp...

Congratulations to Lucy Kramer, Lacey Locke, and John Stuy for being selected to the USA Swimming Zone Select Camp in May at Miami University.  This camp is viewed as the first step in the USA Swimming National Team program and the swimmers will spend 3 days learning and training with the very best swimmers in the country.  They also follow in the footsteps of 10 other CSC athletes who have participated in past Zone Select Camps.  We know these swimmers will train hard and represent the club well!

The Carmel Swim Club Senior Group has had an extremely successful 2007 and summer season to date.  They have broken 7 Carmel Swim Club Records, placed 3rd at Long Course Senior State, and currently has 10 swimmers with individual time standards to Junior Nationals; Megan Detro, Emy DiBenigno, Daniel Hasler, Jessie Hammes, Scott Nocco, Trish Regan, Megan Sparks, Lauren Stauder, Adam Twer, and Alex Young.  Congratulations to all of those that swam best times this summer.  To read more, follow the link below.
